USS CIMARRON was the lead ship of a class of five fleet oilers. Since decommissioning the ship is situated at the Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet in Benicia, CA. It is there that she sits at anchor awaiting her final fate.

Despite sitting at anchor, I found that the ship is in good shape. Her interior spaces are clean and intact. Power is available to the ship via shore power. Many of the ships books & manuals are still onboard.

Many attempts have been made to save Cimarron, including sale to another country for continued use. However due to the ships single hull design, her status remains uncertain. The only information I have been able to get is that she is on hold status for now and if she cannot be used she will more than likely be broken up.
